The river's edge is a favorite place for egrets to rest, hunt for food and perhaps just have a look around. I usually see them alone and think of them as solitary and preferring a quiet place to explore. It is always a wonderful surprise to spot a stately white silhouette amongst the tangle of the green and brown shoreline. This was painted from memory. It is done in a loose realistic style in an effort to keep the painting soft. This is an original acrylic on stretched canvas with painted sides making it suitable for display unframed or framed. This painting comes unframed.

On the Way to the Bluff
This painting shows lush crops nestled in a field on a path to a bluff. I've used a limited pallet to help give weight and mass to the composition of this rural scene. This scene is typically found in the surrounding areas of river towns. I love the combination of the out cropping of bluffs and the patch work of the farmland. This painting is an original acrylic that is painted on the edges making it suitable to be displayed unframed or framed. It is painted on stretched canvas.

Summer Oasis
If it ever warms up, after the eternal winter, the scene in this painting would be a nice place to cool off. The stream is shaded by the trees making it a cool summer oasis. I love the rich blues in this painting. I call this a summer destination painting. A wonderful place for your imagination. This painting is on stretched canvas and is painted on the edges and suitable to be displayed unframed or framed. This painting is unframed.

Sunset Glow
This painting was like trying to capture lightning in a bottle. The sky needed to be intense without overpowering the field reflecting light from the sky. To find a balance is difficult when the colors are intense and an unusual combination. Tree lines are common in the farm fields of the Midwest. This one is accentuated by the sunset. I kept the style simple because I felt the color should be dominant. This is painted on stretched canvas with painted sides and suitable to be displayed with or without a frame. This painting is presently available At the Red Wing Arts Association gallery in Red Wing, MN.

Stars Over Moonlight Bluff
This painting was inspired by a view from our family cottage looking out onto Lake Pepin in Minnesota. I used an understated fantasy style. Moon scenes always have a touch of romance. I felt this style best suited the subject. I enjoyed using a limited color pallet. This painting is an original acrylic on stretched canvas with painted edges ready to hang without a frame.
